Silver Lining Recovery is an outpatient addiction and mental health program in Huntington Beach. Clients referred by their attorney can start PHP, IOP, Evening IOP, Virtual IOP or OP without putting work, school or family on hold.

Key Takeaways

  • One call starts the referral. Call admissions at (866) 681-0927 or use our contact form. You’ll speak with a real admissions counselor.
  • Benefits are verified within 24 hours. We don’t accept Medi-Cal or Medicare, and we’ll point those clients to Orange County’s public access lines.
  • Documentation starts at intake. Attendance and clinical progress are recorded from day one. Releasing anything to you, the court or probation requires your client’s written consent.
  • Evening and virtual options. Evening IOP and Virtual IOP help clients keep jobs, classes and caregiving in place while they meet a treatment requirement.
  • We’re outpatient only. If a client needs medical detox first, we help connect them with a licensed program, then step them into PHP or IOP.

Who Refers Clients to Us

We take referrals from:

  • Criminal defense attorneys
  • Public defenders and legal aid organizations
  • Probation and parole officers
  • Families working alongside a client’s attorney

What a court order requires is a legal question for counsel. Our part is clinical: assessing your client, matching them to the right level of care and keeping an accurate treatment record.

How a Referral Works

  1. Call or send a confidential message. Reach admissions at (866) 681-0927 or through our contact form. Share your client’s name, best contact number, upcoming court dates and any schedule limits like work or school hours. Hold off on sending clinical records until your client has signed a release.
  2. Your client completes a free, confidential assessment. A clinician reviews substance use, mental health and safety needs. We schedule it as quickly as we can when a hearing is approaching. If withdrawal risk means detox should come first, we help your client connect with a licensed detox program and plan the step-down into our outpatient care.
  3. We verify benefits. With your client’s insurance information, we check coverage within 24 hours and explain what we find before anything is scheduled.
  4. We recommend a level of care and a start date. The clinical assessment drives the recommendation, and we factor in your client’s schedule and the order’s requirements.
  5. We set up documentation from the start. Bring the court paperwork and any probation forms to intake. Courts differ in what they accept, and some require their own forms or direct reports to probation rather than a summary letter.
  6. Treatment, reporting and aftercare. Your client gets a personalized treatment plan. With consent in place, we provide the attendance and progress information the court or probation needs, and we plan aftercare before discharge.

Outpatient Programs Your Client Can Start

Every level of care is outpatient. The assessment decides which one fits.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Our most structured level of day treatment, for clients who need intensive daily clinical support while living at home.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Several sessions a week of group and individual therapy for clients who need steady structure without day-long programming.

Evening IOP

Comparable weekly hours to our standard IOP, held in the evening so clients can keep working during the day.

Virtual IOP

HIPAA-compliant telehealth care for clients anywhere in California when travel or privacy is a barrier.

Outpatient Program (OP)

Lower-intensity weekly therapy to maintain progress, often after PHP or IOP.

Documentation for Court and Probation

Attendance and clinical progress are recorded in your client’s treatment record from the first session. When you refer, tell us what the court or probation officer expects to see so we can set up the right documentation at intake.

Substance use treatment records carry federal protections beyond standard medical privacy, under 42 CFR Part 2. When a court or probation has made treatment a condition of a case, your client can sign a consent that lets us share information with the people in the criminal justice system who need it. The consent can stay in effect until a stated point, such as the end of the case or the conditional release. A subpoena on its own isn’t enough to release these records.

Next Steps

Insurance and Payment

We work with most major insurance providers, including Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California, Cigna, Health Net and TRICARE. Coverage depends on your client’s plan, so we verify benefits before treatment starts. You can help your client gather insurance details, but verification needs their information and consent.

We aren’t able to accept Medi-Cal or Medicare. For clients with Medi-Cal, Orange County’s Drug Medi-Cal Access Line at (800) 723-8641 and OC Links at (855) 625-4657 can connect them with county-funded treatment, both available 24/7.

Dual Diagnosis and Trauma-Informed Care

Many court-involved clients are dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma or PTSD alongside substance use. We treat both together, using approaches like CBT, DBT, EMDR, individual and group therapy, medication management and, where clinically appropriate, TMS.

Often, yes. Evening IOP and Virtual IOP are built for clients with daytime jobs or classes. Employment protections like the ADA and FMLA may apply depending on the client and employer, so review specifics with your client.
